Overview of services
We offer free, supported access to books and information from 10 libraries across the East Renfrewshire area.
Membership is free and universal, and allows customers to borrow books from any East Renfrewshire library, including eBooks and Digital Magazines.
We offer free, supported access to the internet and online resources via self-service PCs and/or mobile tablets. We offer free WiFi for customers who wish to use the library space for study or work purposes.
We offer free digital support for anyone who needs help accessing online services. This support can be anything from informal drop-in assistance, or we can provide bespoke short courses and taster sessions for people looking to increase their skills.
We have specialist themed collections of books in each library aimed at promoting and supporting health and wellbeing. We will be launching two dedicated MacMillan Cancer Information points at two libraries in 2019 with further outreach points planned for 2020.
We can support the set up and running of book groups, we offer space within the libraries for community group meetings, private study, pop-up events and exhibitions.
Our trained and dedicated staff can provide access and signposting to other services, information and local organisations though our community information network.
We run regular programmes of events and activities aimed at all ages including – Bookbug; children’s activities; adult events; code clubs; lego clubs, summer reading challenge, author visits and book themed events, etc.
These events and activities are free or very low cost and are designed to promote reading, numeracy, creativity, health and wellbeing and target those parts of the community at risk of social isolation and loneliness.
Who can we help
Libraries are a universal service available to all members of the community. Membership is free.
We can help any groups or individuals with supporting their health and wellbeing; economic wellbeing; digital participation; culture and creativity as well as promoting access to quality information, reading & numeracy and lifelong learning opportunities.
No referrals are required to use our services.
Events, activities and learning sessions are a mix of drop-in and advanced booking. Full information on all adult and children’s activities can be found either at www.ercultureandleisure.org/libraries, on social media or by reading our regularly updated brochures available in all ERCL venues.
Opening hours for all libraries are available on the ERCL website.
Ebooks and Digital Magazine services are 24/7 and can be accessed by anyone with access to a mobile device, PC or laptop.
