We have an exciting full time opportunity available for a Childcare Apprentice to work within our award winning nursery in Thornliebank.

 

The apprenticeship role will require you to be part of a professional and responsible team. You will be involved in the planning and implementation of activities to support children’s learning and development in a fun and stimulating environment. You will also be responsible for the safety and day to day care of babies and young children, supporting and encouraging them to achieve their full potential. The Apprenticeship is open to candidates aged 16 – 19 due to funding reasons.

 

No experience is necessary, however good communication skills and an enthusiasm for the role are essential.

 

The successful candidate will be linked to a training centre and an experienced assessor will visit the workplace on a regular basis. Both the assessor and the centre will offer one to one support throughout the apprenticeship, with a requirement that the successful candidates effectively manage all written and practical elements of their apprenticeship to qualify as a Childcare Practitioner with a SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7.

Willingness to achieve SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People)

 

Experience:

Desirable:

Experience of working with children, experience of work experience placements in a childcare setting

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • A desire to work with children and to have a career in childcare
  • Willingness to learn and to commit to personal time in order to undertake SVQ related studies/ research/ written work outwith working hours.
  • Friendly nature with an upbeat, positive disposition and a sense of humour.  You must have the ability to adapt your approach dependant on the situation and child.
