“Moving into Work”

Street League uses the power of sport to attract unemployed people aged 16 to 24 onto its Academy programme. The programme combines a mixture of sports, football and fitness
activities with skills development workshops that will help progress participants towards employment.

At the Academy, participants will develop key employability skills and acquire nationally recognised qualifications. Participants will complete daily job searches, attend working groups and undergo mock interviews, as well as playing football every day.

As part of the programme, participants also join real employers for work experience placements, which last between four and eight weeks, in order to prepare them for the world of work. These placements are for 20 hours per week and are available in a variety of sectors.
