Case Study

Strive into Retail

Background

Karen Salvaterra is originally from Wales, now living in Neilston with her two children and husband. She has been out of the job market for the last 12 years as she has been bringing up her family. However now that she wants to get back into work she isn’t sure how to go about it and lacks the confidence to go for interviews. She would like a position within the retail sector and feels that this would fit around her caring for her children.

The Outcome

Following the course Karen applied for a position with her revised CV and had already had great feedback from it, making her feel confident that she would soon be back into work.

The Course

The course itself helped Karen in developing her confidence, after being out of the workplace for so long, and also gave her qualifications in Health and Safety and First Aid at work. Part of the course also covered applying for jobs and practice in interviews, both of which Karen felt was hugely beneficial to her.

Applying for the Course

Karen went along to a Jobs Fayre organised by Work EastRen and whilst there saw a flyer advertising the Strive in Retail course, which she thought would be ideal to help her get back into work.
