Facilities Management

Background

John Feeney and Ralph Fyfe both work within Facilities Management for East Renfrewshire Council. They felt that they were struggling to fill positions within the janitorial and catering sectors and decided to try setting up some jobs fairs, where possible candidates could come along and find about jobs on the day.

We had over 200 applicants in one day and filled 47 positions, so it was a phenomenal success.

Job Fairs

The team at Work EastRen heard about the success of these jobs fairs and were keen to work with the Facilities Management team to promote the events and also supply them with clients on their database to fill the positions. The team worked closely with John and Ralph to advertise the event locally and set up and run the event on the day.

The Outcome

The jobs fair organised with Work EastRen was a huge success, with first interviews happening on the day. John found that it was extremely beneficial to meet with people, rather than just looking at a CV, where the team could see the real skills that people had and the value that they could give to the position, even if they didn’t have formal qualifications. The other benefit of these jobs fairs is that local people can come along therefore it benefits the local community. At this last fair John managed to fill 47 positions in just one day, which was great both for candidates and for the team at Facilities Management.
